DCG Philip Andoh Urges Personnel to Stay Fit for Election Duties

As the country prepares for the December General Elections, the Deputy Comptroller-General, Legal, Research, and Monitoring of Immigration (DCG/Legal), Philip Peter Andoh, has highlighted the crucial role of regular exercise for security personnel.

Speaking after the Ghana Immigration Service Fitness Walk on July 27, 2024, at the National Headquarters in Accra, Andoh stressed that physical fitness is essential for security personnel to effectively discharge their duties, particularly during critical periods like elections.

“Regular exercise is vital for our personnel to maintain the required level of physical and mental alertness to handle the challenges of election security,” Andoh said. “We cannot afford to compromise on our fitness levels, especially when the country needs us most.”

The Fitness Walk, which saw participation from personnel of the Ghana Immigration Service, aimed to promote physical fitness and teamwork among staff. Andoh commended the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment to fitness, urging them to maintain the momentum.

As Ghana approaches the December polls, security agencies are gearing up to ensure a peaceful and secure electoral process. The Ghana Immigration Service, in particular, plays a critical role in maintaining border security and supporting other security agencies during the elections.

Andoh’s emphasis on fitness underscores the importance of preparing security personnel for the demands of election security duties, which require stamina, agility, and mental alertness. By prioritizing physical fitness, the Ghana Immigration Service aims to enhance its operational effectiveness and contribute to a successful and peaceful electoral process.
