In an interview on Home Base TV’s Morning Show, Mr. Joseph Kofi Damtse, the independent parliamentary candidate for Assin South, appealed to his constituents to vote for him in the upcoming elections, promising to bring development and progress to the area.
Mr. Damtse expressed his disappointment in the current state of affairs in Assin South, citing the recent development tracker report that ranked the constituency as the poorest in terms of development. He attributed this to the mismanagement of government funds meant for development projects.
The candidate highlighted the struggles faced by the youth, including unemployment and teenage pregnancy, as well as the challenges faced by farmers in the constituency. He pledged to create jobs for the youth and revive agricultural production in the community if elected as MP.
Damtse emphasized his commitment to working with all stakeholders to address the community’s challenges, including the lack of access to quality healthcare and education. He also promised to improve the road network and provide clean water and sanitation facilities.
“I will work tirelessly to ensure that Assin South is transformed into a model constituency, where the youth can find employment and the farmers can thrive,” Damtse said. “I urge all members of the constituency to vote for me in the 2024 general elections, and together, we can make a difference.”
Notably, Damtse contested the 2016 NPP primaries but lost. He later broke away from the party due to perceived unfairness in the 2020 primaries and ran as an independent candidate, securing 36.22% of the votes. Undeterred, he is now determined to win the 2024 elections and bring about the change he promises for Assin South.
Damtse’s vision for Assin South includes:
