NDC Withdraws Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate Over Immoral Acts and Anti-Party Conduct

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has withdrawn its 2024 parliamentary candidate for the Assin Central constituency, Nurein Shiabu Migyimah, with immediate effect. This decision was made by the Regional Functional Executive Committee (R-FEC) after conducting a preliminary investigation into reports of immoral acts and anti-party conduct against Migyimah.
According to a statement signed by the Regional Secretary, Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams, the R-FEC held a meeting on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, to deliberate on the matter and subsequently suspended Migyimah from the party for six months. The matter has been referred to the regional disciplinary committee for further adjudication.
The statement also noted that Migyimah’s party membership has been suspended until the final determination of his case by the regional disciplinary committee.
The R-FEC has directed that this decision be communicated formally to Migyimah, all constituency, ward, branch, and rank and file of the party in the constituency. The committee has urged strict compliance with this directive without fail.
This development comes as a surprise to many in the political landscape, as Migyimah was seen as a strong candidate for the NDC in the Assin Central constituency. The party’s decision to withdraw his candidacy and suspend his membership is a clear indication of its commitment to upholding discipline and ethical standards within its ranks.
It remains to be seen who the NDC will choose as its new parliamentary candidate for the Assin Central constituency, but one thing is certain – the party is taking a strong stance against immoral acts and anti-party conduct, and is committed to presenting a united and strong front in the 2024 elections.
