Assin South DCE Cuts Sod for New JHS Block at Nuanua Fante

The Assin South District Assembly has cut sod for the construction of a new three-unit classroom block for Nuanua Fante Junior High School after a torrential downpour destroyed the school’s existing block, forcing pupils to study under temporary shelters.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin South, Mr Jonathan Birikorang, performed the sod-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, September 23, for the construction of the facility, which will include offices and toilet facilities.

The project, expected to be completed within six months, is aimed at providing pupils and teachers with a safer and more conducive environment for teaching and learning.

The destruction of the existing school block had disrupted academic activities, leaving the school community in need of a permanent facility to enable effective teaching and learning.

The ceremony brought together Nananom, NDC Constituency Executives, Assembly staff, teachers, parents, learners and other community members.

Nananom and other stakeholders expressed appreciation to the District Assembly for responding to the infrastructure challenge and called for the timely completion of the project.

Mr Birikorang said the Assembly would continue to work towards addressing critical infrastructure challenges affecting schools in the district.

Earlier the same day, the DCE commissioned a three-unit classroom block with offices and stores at Nuanua Tutuda.

The facility is expected to improve the learning environment and provide additional space for teaching and administrative activities.

Mr Birikorang also pledged to take steps to address teacher accommodation challenges in the area, noting the importance of providing teachers with suitable working and living conditions.

The two interventions at Nuanua Fante and Nuanua Tutuda form part of efforts by the Assin South District Assembly to improve educational infrastructure and create suitable conditions for effective teaching and learning in communities within the district.
