Four Years of Service: Residents Applaud Affutuakwa Omanhene’s Leadership

The Omanhene of the Affutuakwa Traditional Area, Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene II, has marked four years on the throne, with residents praising his leadership and highlighting positive developments in discipline, education, sanitation, healthcare, unity and community development.

Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene II was enstooled on August 12, 2022, and on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, marked his fourth anniversary as the traditional leader of the Affutuakwa Traditional Area.

As part of the anniversary, members of the community were engaged to share their views on the Omanhene’s four-year reign and the impact of his leadership on the people.

The feedback from residents was largely positive, with many praising the Omanhene for his commitment to the welfare of the people and his efforts to make the traditional institution relevant to the everyday needs of the community.

One of the major areas residents identified as a positive change under the Omanhene’s reign is the increased sense of discipline within the traditional area.

Community members said his leadership has encouraged greater respect for traditional authority, community values and responsible behaviour.

They believe the emphasis on discipline has contributed to peace and order while encouraging the youth and other residents to appreciate the importance of respect, responsibility and good conduct.

Residents also recognised the importance placed on education and the future of the youth.

They believe education remains one of the strongest foundations for sustainable development and that supporting young people is essential to producing future leaders and professionals from the Affutuakwa Traditional Area.

Community members expressed the hope that the focus on education and youth development will continue to grow, creating more opportunities for young people and helping them realise their potential.

Sanitation was another area residents highlighted when assessing the Omanhene’s four-year reign.

According to community members, there has been greater attention to cleanliness and environmental sanitation, with residents becoming more conscious of the need to keep their communities clean.

They believe continued efforts in this area will help create healthier and more attractive communities within the traditional area.

The Omanhene’s contribution to healthcare also received significant praise from residents.

Community members highlighted health screening initiatives organised during his reign, which they said have benefited more than 2,000 people.

The screenings have provided residents with opportunities to check their health status, identify possible health concerns and receive advice on seeking appropriate medical attention.

Residents described the initiative as an important demonstration of leadership focused on the wellbeing of the people.

Beyond the specific initiatives, residents also praised Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene II for promoting peace, unity and togetherness within the traditional area.

They believe his leadership has helped strengthen the relationship between the traditional institution and the people while encouraging residents to take collective responsibility for the development of their communities.

For many residents, the past four years have demonstrated that traditional leadership can play an important role in addressing social issues and supporting development at the grassroots level.

Looking Ahead

As Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene II begins his fifth year on the throne, residents are hopeful that the progress recorded so far will be sustained and expanded.

They are looking forward to more development initiatives, stronger discipline, improved sanitation, expanded health programmes, greater educational opportunities, youth development and continued peace and unity across the Affutuakwa Traditional Area.

The fourth anniversary therefore represents more than a celebration of four years on the throne. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the journey so far, recognise the contributions made and look ahead to the aspirations of the people.

For the people of Affutuakwa, the past four years have been a period of renewed attention to issues affecting their daily lives, with the traditional institution continuing to serve as an important pillar of community leadership and development.

Four years of leadership. Four years of service. Four years of discipline. Four years of education. Four years of health initiatives. Four years of impact.

As the people of Affutuakwa celebrate their Omanhene, the hope remains that the years ahead will bring greater development, educational opportunities, improved healthcare, stronger unity, peace and a brighter future for the traditional area.
