Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene’s Health Initiative Brings Hope to Assin Central Residents

Residents of the Affutuakwa Traditional Area are set to benefit from a major Free Surgical Outreach organized by the Outreach Coordinating Unit of Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, aimed at providing specialist healthcare services to individuals who may otherwise be unable to afford treatment.

The initiative, themed “Restoring Health, Renewing Hope, Transforming Lives,” is being made possible through the support and commitment of Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene, Paramount Chief of the Affutuakwa Traditional Area, whose dedication to community development and healthcare continues to impact lives across the district.

The outreach seeks to provide free screening, investigations, and surgical procedures for residents suffering from various medical conditions, helping to reduce the burden of healthcare costs while improving the quality of life of beneficiaries.

Speaking on the importance of the programme, organizers described the initiative as a mission of hope aimed at reaching individuals who have endured pain, discomfort, and health challenges for years due to financial difficulties and limited access to specialist care.

The screening team arrived in the district on Sunday, June 7, 2026, with screening exercises officially commencing on Monday, June 8, and expected to continue until Saturday, June 13, 2026.

During the outreach, specialist medical teams from Cape Coast Teaching Hospital will assess and schedule patients for free surgeries involving conditions such as hernia, hydrocele, fibroid, lipoma, keloid, contracture, undescended testis, and other minor surgical conditions.

The programme has also received valuable support from Nana Agyei Kwame II, Nana Boakye, Hon. Nicholas Fiifi Baako, and Midwife Anas, whose contributions have strengthened efforts to deliver quality healthcare services to the people of Assin Central.

Special recognition has further been extended to Mr. Kwame Yeboah Agyapong, popularly known as “Casino,” for his dedication, coordination, and tireless efforts in helping bring the outreach programme to fruition.

According to the organizers, the initiative is more than a medical exercise. It represents a commitment to restoring dignity, renewing confidence, and ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent individuals from receiving the healthcare they deserve.

Healthcare professionals including surgeons, doctors, nurses, anaesthetists, pharmacists, public health officers, support staff, and volunteers are participating in the outreach, working alongside traditional leaders and community stakeholders to ensure its success.

As the programme progresses, residents with eligible medical conditions are being encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to receive free specialist assessment and treatment.

The outreach is expected to leave a lasting impact on communities throughout Assin Central, bringing relief to families, improving health outcomes, and demonstrating the power of collaboration between healthcare institutions, traditional authorities, and community leaders.

With healthcare access remaining a challenge for many people, the initiative by Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene stands as a remarkable example of leadership, compassion, and service to humanity, offering renewed hope and a healthier future for residents of Assin Central.
