A 30-year-old man, Kwabena Mensah, was brutally murdered by his friends with sticks and stones following a dispute over GHC 200. According to police sources, the deceased and the suspects were friends and members of the Asafo group affiliated with the Kasoa Odupong Ofaako Stool.
The incident occurred when the deceased and his friends demanded GHC 7,000 from a developer who had violated the stool’s ban on noise-making. After handing over the money to the authorities, they approached another developer and demanded an additional GHC 200. However, a disagreement arose when the deceased asked for his share of the money, leading to a misunderstanding.
The situation escalated on Sunday, June 30, 2023, at around 11:00 PM, when the suspects attacked the deceased and his brother, Edem Saglo, at a drinking spot. Edem reported that he was hit with a stick and lost consciousness, and by the time he regained consciousness, his brother was dead.
The suspects are currently at large, and the case has been reported at the Kasoa Ofaako District Police Command. The police are investigating the incident and searching for the suspects.
