Kwabena Agyepong Laments Alan’s Exit from NPP

Kwabena Agyepong, Senior Campaign Adviser to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed disappointment over Alan Kyerematen’s departure from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing it as “very sad”.
In an interview on Channel One TV’s “The Point of View” with Bernard Avle, Agyepong lamented Kyerematen’s decision to leave the party after losing the presidential candidacy contest in 2023. Kyerematen subsequently launched his Movement for Change and declared his intention to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections.
Agyepong emphasized that Kyerematen’s exit was painful, given his long-standing ties with the NPP. “I found it very sad, especially considering the significant roles the party has afforded him throughout his political career,” Agyepong stated.
The Senior Campaign Adviser contrasted Kyerematen’s exit with the loyalty demonstrated by other presidential aspirants, such as Kennedy Agyapong, who are now campaigning for Dr. Bawumia’s victory.
While acknowledging Kyerematen’s potential to garner some NPP votes, Agyepong stressed that the party’s primary focus is on securing a victory in the elections. “It’s too late now to try to reach out; we have to deal with it and fight through the elections,” he said.
Agyepong remains optimistic about Dr. Bawumia’s chances, citing the numerous infrastructure projects initiated by the government. “The record of the party, especially around the country, will sway voters to support Dr. Bawumia,” he said.
