EPA to strengthen Ghana’s Climate Action for COP30 through Pre Conference Training.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Ghana is taking proactive steps to enhance the country’s participation in global climate negotiations, particularly in the lead-up to the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil.

In response to the challenges faced at COP29, including the failure to agree on binding commitments to phase out fossil fuel subsidies, the EPA is launching a series of comprehensive training sessions from May. These sessions aim to equip both state and non-state actors with the knowledge and skills necessary to engage effectively at COP30.

The training sessions will focus on four key areas: Adaptation, Climate Finance, Agriculture & Food Security, and Gender Mainstreaming. These areas have been identified as critical to Ghana’s climate priorities, and the EPA is committed to ensuring that the country’s negotiation teams are well-prepared to communicate these priorities effectively.

With the support of the recently passed EPA Act, the agency is prioritizing capacity building to ensure that Ghana’s negotiation teams are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to engage effectively at COP30. Data-driven decision-making will be at the core of Ghana’s strategy, recognizing the importance of accurate statistics in the fight for climate justice.

According to the EPA, the training sessions will be open to all interested individuals, whether experts or passionate advocates. The agency is encouraging all those who are planning to participate in COP30 to join the training sessions and be part of Ghana’s climate delegation.

By working together, Ghana aims to make its voice heard on the global stage and contribute meaningfully to the COP30 negotiations. The country is committed to playing a key role in global efforts to address the climate crisis, and the EPA is leading the charge.

As Ghana prepares for COP30, the EPA is calling on all stakeholders to join forces and support the country’s climate efforts. Together, Ghana can make a difference and help to create a more sustainable future for all.
