Assin Manso SHS STEM Club Wins Top Honors at National Robotics Competition, Appeals for Infrastructure Support

The Assin Manso Senior High School Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Club has achieved a remarkable feat by winning the best robot game at the First Lego League National Robotics competition.

The eight-member team, comprising bright and innovative students, showcased their exceptional talents and ingenuity by coding a robot to perform specific functions, outshining 19 senior high schools and eight basic schools from across the country.

The competition, which aimed to promote STEM education and innovation, saw the students demonstrate their problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork. Their impressive performance has earned them recognition as one of the top STEM teams in the country.

However, the students are now appealing to alumni, philanthropists, and civil society groups to support the construction of a dedicated STEM block to enhance the teaching and learning of these critical subjects.

The school’s Headmaster, Mr. Eric Nyarkoh, emphasized the importance of STEM education in today’s technology-driven world, highlighting the need for parents and guardians to encourage and guide their children in embracing these subjects.

Mr. Nyarkoh commended the students and teachers for their hard work and dedication, which led to their outstanding achievement.

He also expressed gratitude to Rev. Ntim Fordjour, the Deputy Minister of Education, for his support during the students’ training. The school hopes to continue excelling in STEM education with the help of infrastructure development and community support.

The students’ success has also highlighted the need for increased investment in STEM education in Ghana, particularly in rural areas where access to resources and facilities may be limited.

The Assin Manso SHS STEM Club’s achievement serves as a shining example of what can be accomplished with determination, hard work, and the right support.
