Agric Education Key to Ghana’s Development – DCE

The District Chief Executive of Assin South, Hon. Jonathan Birikorang, has emphasized the crucial role of agricultural education in Ghana’s development. Speaking on behalf of the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere, at the 40th anniversary celebration of Assin Nsuta Agric Senior High School, he highlighted the need for technology-driven and innovation-led approaches to food security and wealth creation.

Hon. Birikorang commended the school’s founders, administrators, and staff for their commitment to promoting agricultural education and urged students to pursue careers in the sector. He noted that agriculture is key to Ghana’s development and that the school has played a significant role in nurturing young minds to contribute to the country’s agricultural growth.

The event brought together stakeholders, traditional authorities, and development partners to support the school’s continued growth and development. The DCE reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening agricultural education and creating opportunities for students to transition from classroom knowledge to real agribusiness careers.

The celebration marked a milestone in the school’s history, highlighting its achievements and charting a path for future growth and excellence. The school’s alumni, who are making significant contributions to Ghana’s agricultural sector, were also recognized for their achievements.

The DCE announced plans to collaborate with the school to establish a modern agricultural farm, which will serve as a training ground for students and a model for modern agricultural practices in the region. This initiative is expected to boost agricultural production, create jobs, and improve the livelihoods of farmers in the district.

In his address, Hon. Birikorang also commended the school’s management for maintaining a high academic standard and encouraged the students to take advantage of the resources available to them to excel in their studies. He urged the students to be innovative and creative in their approach to agriculture, and to consider starting their own agribusinesses after graduation.

The celebration ended with a call on stakeholders to continue supporting the school to enable it to achieve its vision of becoming a center of excellence in agricultural education.
