The Member of Parliament for Assin North and newly appointed Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson, has reassured his constituents that despite his new ministerial responsibilities, he remains first and foremost a servant of the people of Assin North.
Speaking in his maiden radio interview after assuming his new role, Hon. Quayson told listeners of Rich FM 98.7MHz in Assin Foso that no position or office would ever distance him from the people who entrusted him with their mandate.
“I want my constituents to know that I remain their humble servant. The ministerial appointment is a call to national duty, but my foundation is right here in Assin North. This is where my loyalty begins and ends,” he stated.
The MP emphasized that service to the people has always guided his political journey. He noted that while some constituents may worry that his ministerial duties could overshadow his work in the constituency, he has put structures in place to ensure that their concerns are addressed promptly.
“Leadership is about accessibility and responsiveness. I will always be available, and I will always listen. Even if I am outside the country on official assignment, my team will be on the ground to attend to pressing issues. Nothing will change about my closeness to the people,” he assured.
Hon. Quayson also highlighted that his new portfolio at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs could bring added advantages to the constituency. “This appointment is not a distraction; it is an opportunity. It gives me a stronger voice and a wider network to lobby for development. I want the people to see this as an extension of their influence on the national stage,” he explained.
Reaffirming his commitment to transparency and accountability, the Assin North MP said he would continue to engage openly with the electorate on decisions, projects, and challenges. “I was sent to Parliament to represent the voice of Assin North. That trust will never be betrayed. Everything I do will be guided by the interest of my people,” he stressed.
The Deputy Minister concluded by appealing for unity and continued support from his constituents. “We can only achieve more if we stand together. I may have the title, but the power lies with the people. My promise is simple — I will serve faithfully, with humility and dedication,” he declared.
