Three arrested after flying drones at EOCO headquarters

Three persons, including a woman, have been arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after allegedly flying drones over the agency’s headquarters without permission.
The incident occurred on Thursday, October 1, while Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, was at the facility to answer questions from EOCO investigators.
Citi News sources said the drones were flown over the facility for several minutes before EOCO officials pursued and arrested the three suspects.
Mr Baffour Awuah voluntarily appeared before EOCO on Thursday, accompanied by his lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, as part of an ongoing investigation.
His appearance came a day after an Accra High Court authorised his arrest and granted EOCO permission to search for and seize documents it considered relevant to the investigation.
EOCO told the court that it had exhausted reasonable efforts to secure the MP’s voluntary attendance and expressed concerns that relevant documents could be concealed, altered or destroyed.
The order followed an attempted arrest of the MP at the Accra High Court on September 23.
EOCO has maintained that Mr Baffour Awuah was invited twice in February 2026 but failed to honour the invitations.
The MP has disputed that account, saying the invitations were addressed to his former law firm, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, which represented SIC Life Savings & Loans.
He said that after referring the matter to the Clerk to Parliament, a representative of the law firm appeared before EOCO on March 4, March 18 and April 30 and provided the information requested by investigators, including a written statement.
The investigation concerns alleged unauthorised financial transactions at SIC Life Savings & Loans Company Limited.
Authorities have linked the probe to suspected financial loss, dissipation of public funds and money laundering, although the allegations remain under investigation.
