President John Dramani Mahama has dissolved the boards of nine state institutions with immediate effect.
The affected institutions are Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited, Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO), Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG), Ghana Post Company Limited, Road Maintenance Trust Fund, TDC Ghana Limited, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and the National Sports Authority.
The directive was contained in a letter dated September 2, 2026, signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, and addressed to the relevant sector ministers.
The letter said President Mahama had dissolved the affected boards and directed the respective ministers to take all necessary steps, in accordance with the applicable laws and governing instruments, to give effect to the decision and formally notify the affected board members.
It further directed the management teams of the institutions to continue overseeing their day-to-day operations under the supervision of their respective sector ministries pending the reconstitution of the boards.
“During this interim period, management shall not take any major policy, financial or contractual decisions requiring Board approval without prior authorisation from the appropriate authority,” the letter stated.
The Presidency said the affected boards would be reconstituted in due course.
It also conveyed the President’s appreciation to the outgoing board members for the services they rendered to the various institutions.
The affected institutions fall under several ministries, including Finance; Roads and Highways; Energy and Green Transition; Works, Housing and Water Resources; Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations; Lands and Natural Resources; and Sports and Recreation.
