A renowned herbal practitioner at Befikrom, a suburb of Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the  Central Region, Dr. Edu Mohammed, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Edu Herbal Clinic, has called on Ghanaians to pay more attention to kindergarten education, describing it as the foundation of every great leader and professional.

Speaking during the 42nd Anniversary celebration of Mankessim Catholic A & B Basic School, Dr. Adu said no matter how high one rises in life, everyone passes through the kindergarten stage.

“No matter your title today – whether Chief, President, MP, Judge, Lawyer, MMDCE, Teacher, Doctor, or Police Officer – we all started from KG. That is where the foundation was laid. So it is time we look back and support that stage,” he stated.

The event was held under the theme: _“Celebrating 42 years of excellence, roots of achievement, and building our future”_ at the school premises.

According to Dr. Adu, who chaired the celebration, the performances and discipline displayed by the kindergarten pupils during the celebration proved that investing in early childhood education is investing in the future of the nation.

He urged traditional leaders, parents, old students, philanthropists, and corporate bodies to adopt KG blocks, provide teaching and learning materials, and support teachers to give children a better start.

“When we build strong roots in KG, we will harvest quality leaders, professionals, and responsible citizens in the future. Let us not wait until JHS or SHS. The work starts from the foundation,” he added.

Dr. Adu pledged his personal commitment to support the school and encouraged other well-meaning Ghanaians to do same by giving 100 bags of Cement and an amount of ghc 2,000 in cash.

“Excellence starts from the roots. If we want a better Ghana tomorrow, we must build it today – starting from KG,” he concluded.

Rev. Vincent Lawoe, a representative from the Supervision of the Catholic Units who represented the regional manager Mrs. Diner Quao Central Region, also charged teachers to ensure effective teaching and discipline in the school.

He appealed to parents to stop harassing and intimidating teachers, and rather report any concerns to school authorities so teachers can work in peace.

“When we allow teachers to teach in peace, something good will come out of our children,” he said.

Rev. Lawoe also urged pupils to take their studies seriously, reminding them that “it is your duty to learn.”
He further advised parents to help their wards with homework and support learning at home.

The anniversary was graced by old students of Mankessim Catholic A & B who demonstrated their commitment to giving back.

In support of the school, the old students donated *GHC 6,000* toward the 42nd anniversary celebration and ongoing development projects. Their contribution was praised as a strong example of loyalty to the school that laid their foundation.

Queen mothers present at the event also advised parents and the school to work together to secure a better future for the children.

They urged the school, parents, and the wider community to unite under the Catholic Church to drive development in Mankessim.
“When the Church, parents, and community come together, we can build better schools and raise better children for Ghana,” one queen mother stated.

The Celebration
The 42nd Anniversary which was its first in kind brought together a large gathering including Traditional Leaders, teachers, parents, old students, clergy, and stakeholders from across Mfantseman.

Pupils from the KG and primary sections thrilled the audience with cultural displays, recitals, and drama that showcased the talent being nurtured at the basic level.

School authorities used the occasion to appeal for support to improve infrastructure, especially for the kindergarten department.
