No Discrimination at Kakum National Park, Ghana Tourism Authority Clarifies
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has clarified that there is no discrimination in the enforcement of photography and videography rules at Kakum National Park, dismissing as false claims circulating on social media.
The clarification follows a viral video alleging that foreign tourists are allowed to take photographs freely while Ghanaians are charged or restricted from doing so at the popular tourist destination.
According to the GTA, the Authority verified the allegations with the Management of Kakum National Park and found the claims to be inaccurate and misleading.
The Authority explained that all visitors, regardless of their nationality or residency status, are permitted to take photographs and videos for personal use using mobile phones and other personal devices.
However, it noted that professional photographers and videographers undertaking commercial productions are required to pay the applicable fees in line with the Park’s operational guidelines. This policy applies equally to all visitors and is not based on nationality or residency.
Management of Kakum National Park has also issued a statement denying the allegations contained in the circulating video, reaffirming that the Park’s photography and videography policy is applied fairly and consistently.
The Ghana Tourism Authority has therefore assured tourists, visitors, and the general public that there is no discrimination in the implementation of photography and videography regulations at Kakum National Park.
The Authority further urged the public to disregard the misleading social media claims and to rely on information from official sources for accurate updates on Ghana’s tourism sector.
