MASLOC Board Chairman Enstooled as Benkumhene of Kwamankese, Odikuro of Sekyerew

A proud and historic occasion was marked with rich cultural display and unity as Mr. Jerry Nyamakye, Board Chairman of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), was officially outdoored as Benkumhene of the Kwamankese Traditional Area and Odikuro of Sekyere Kwamankese. He assumes the stool name Nana Nyarko Adu Nyamekye VIII.

The colourful ceremony attracted a distinguished gathering of traditional leaders, dignitaries, and political figures from across the country. A strong delegation from MASLOC was present, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Madam Abigail Elorm Mensah.

The event also saw the attendance of Paramount Chiefs, as well as political party representatives, including a New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegation led by the National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, and a National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegation led by the Central Regional Chairman, Dr. Richard Kofi Asiedu. Their presence underscored the significance of the occasion and the broad support for the newly installed chief.

In his address, Nana Nyarko Adu Nyamekye VIII expressed profound gratitude for the honour bestowed upon him and described the ceremony as one filled with enthusiasm, happiness, and strong communal spirit.

Outlining his vision, he emphasized the need to position Sekyerew prominently on the national map. According to him, many people are unaware of the town’s existence, with some even questioning whether it is located in Ghana. He noted that the successful hosting of the ceremony alone has helped to project and brand the township.

His second major priority, he stated, is to drive economic growth within the community. Nana Nyamekye VIII stressed the importance of creating sustainable economic opportunities that will enable residents to improve their livelihoods and support their families. He proposed the exploration of the area’s natural resources as a key strategy, alongside the formation of a local think tank made up of accomplished individuals from Kwamankese.

He further explained that relying solely on external investors could delay development indefinitely, insisting that the community has the human capital needed to initiate progress. According to him, what is required is unity, coordination, and the collective will to harness available opportunities. He pledged to use his network, exposure, and influence to attract investment and partnerships that will transform local resources into viable economic ventures.

The traditional installation ceremony, attended by chiefs, elders, and members of the community, symbolizes the formal recognition of Nana Nyamekye VIII’s commitment to leadership, service, and development. His enstoolment reflects not only his contributions to national development through public service but also his dedication to preserving and promoting Ghana’s rich chieftaincy traditions.

The event stands as a testament to cultural pride, unity, and a renewed vision for progress within the Kwamankese Traditional Area.
