Ken Ofori-Atta Released From U.S. ICE Custody

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been released from the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after issues relating to his immigration status.
Checks at the Caroline Detention Facility, an ICE-run centre, show that his name is no longer on the list of detainees. Officials at the facility confirmed his release but did not provide additional details.
Mr Ofori-Atta had been held since January 2026.
In an earlier statement dated January 7, 2026, his lawyers, Minkah-Premo, Osei-Bonsu, Bruce-Cathline and Partners, explained that his detention was due to concerns about his immigration status in the United States and not linked to any criminal offence.
