President Nana Akufo-Addo addressed a forum of Youth Employment Agency (YEA) beneficiaries in Kumasi, encouraging them to participate in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) activities for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
He emphasized the importance of youth involvement in shaping the country’s political future.
During his speech, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the achievements of his administration, including the implementation of policies such as the Free Senior High School (SHS) program and the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative.
He also emphasized the need for continuity in leadership to ensure the successful execution of these programs.
The President expressed his disapproval of former President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership, highlighting that Mahama was the only President who did not receive a second term in office. Akufo-Addo emphasized that Mahama’s inability to secure re-election demonstrates his unpopularity among Ghanaians.
“Mahama’s rejection by Ghanaians in the 2016 elections was a clear indication of his inability to deliver on his promises,” President Akufo-Addo said. “We cannot afford to go back to the days of failed leadership and unfulfilled promises.”
The President endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer, as the superior candidate for the presidency.
Akufo-Addo expressed confidence in Bawumia’s ability to lead Ghana with effective policies and transform the country.
“Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated his competence and vision for Ghana’s development,” President Akufo-Addo said. “Let us give him the opportunity to lead our great nation forward.”
Finally President Akufo-Addo urged the youth to be active in the upcoming campaign activities and support Dr. Bawumia’s bid for the presidency.
He emphasized that the future of Ghana depends on the choices made today, and encouraged the youth to be part of shaping that future.
