Health and Sanitation My Topmost Priority — Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene II
Affutuakwa Omanhene emphasizes people’s well-being as the foundation for development and calls for collective action to build healthy, thriving communities.
His Royal Majesty, Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene II, Omanhene of the Affutuakwa Traditional Area, has reaffirmed that health and sanitation are the cornerstone of progress during his address at the 2025 Tutukese Afahye Durbar. Speaking before chiefs, elders, government officials, and residents, the Omanhene stressed that the well-being of the people must be placed at the heart of all development initiatives.
He explained that no amount of infrastructure, education, or economic activity can achieve lasting results if citizens are burdened by preventable diseases or live in unhygienic conditions. “A healthy people are a productive people,” he declared, describing a healthy population as the key to a productive, empowered, and resilient community.
Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene II highlighted his commitment to making healthcare more accessible, promoting healthy lifestyles, and ensuring that communities are clean and well-maintained. He emphasized that sanitation is not just about appearances but is vital for safeguarding public health, reducing disease, and creating an environment where citizens can thrive.
Linking health to broader development, the Omanhene noted that education, business, and agriculture can only flourish when citizens are healthy enough to participate fully.
He called on everyone — from chiefs and elders to youth and women — to take collective responsibility for cleanliness and hygiene, underscoring that sustainable progress requires both leadership and active community engagement.
Concluding his address, His Royal Majesty urged unity and discipline in pursuing these goals. “This agenda is not mine alone — it is ours. Let us work together to build a healthier, cleaner, and more prosperous Affutuakwa, where future generations can live with dignity and opportunity,” he said.
The Omanhene’s remarks were met with enthusiastic applause from the crowd, reflecting widespread support for a development agenda that places people’s health and well-being at its core, reinforcing the principle that true progress begins with the welfare of the community.
