PANAFEST 2025: Vice President Urges Unity and Self-Reflection

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has launched the 17th edition of PANAFEST and Emancipation Day 2025 with a powerful call for reflection, unity, and youth development.
The event took place in a colourful ceremony in the Central Region on Friday.

The Pan African Historical Theatre Festival (PANAFEST) honours the memory of those affected by the Transatlantic Slave Trade while celebrating Ghana’s rich cultural identity and deepening ties with the African diaspora.
Addressing a durbar of chiefs, dignitaries, and guests from across the world, the Vice President urged Ghanaians and descendants of Africa to remember the painful legacy of slavery and turn it into a force for progress.

She reaffirmed Ghana’s longstanding commitment to freedom and justice, and stressed that preserving historical memory must go hand in hand with shaping a better future.
Touching on the role of youth in national development, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang called for increased investment in education, skills development, and opportunities tailored to young people.

PANAFEST 2025 is expected to draw thousands of participants from the diaspora, scholars, creatives, and cultural leaders in a series of events that include performances, tours, lectures, and rituals of remembrance
