CCTV Captures Woman allegedly Stealing Baby at Ajumako Market.

A shocking incident occurred at the Ajumako market in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region, where an unidentified woman in her 50s brazenly stole an 11-month-old child. The incident was captured on CCTV camera, and the footage has been obtained by authorities.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect approached the child’s mother, who was selling cassava at the market, and offered to help with the baby while she attended to her business. The mother, trusting the woman’s intentions, handed over the child to her sister-in-law, who was sitting with the suspect.
The suspect sat with the family for over an hour, gaining their trust, before suddenly disappearing with the child. The mother, Esi Sekyiwa, recounted her ordeal in an interview with the media
“I gave my 11-month-old child to my sister-in-law while I sold cassava. This woman approached us, offered to help with the baby, and sat with us for a while. Before I knew it, she was gone,” Sekyiwa said, fighting back tears.
“I’m pleading with the police and anyone who can help us find our child. We don’t know what intentions this woman has for our child. Please, if you see this woman or know anything about her, contact the police immediately. My child is innocent, and I want her back.”
The family reviewed the CCTV footage, which showed the woman fleeing with the child. Family members suspect the woman might be hiding in nearby towns like Winneba, Apam, Mankessim, or Kasoa, and fear the child might be used for rituals or sold.
“We suspect this woman had an intention to steal the child. We don’t know if she plans to use the child for rituals or sell her. We urge the police to help us find our child,” a family member said.
We’re appealing to the good people of Winneba, Apam, Mankessim, and Kasoa to be vigilant. If you see this woman or know anything about her, please report to the police. We want our child back, and we’ll do everything to ensure she’s returned safely.”
The case has been reported to the Ajumako District Police Command, and investigations are underway. The police are reviewing the CCTV footage and appealing to the public for information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest and the safe return of the child.
