A Royal Encounter: Togbe Afede XIV Pays Courtesy Call on His Majesty Mogho Naba Baongo II

As part of his visit to Burkina Faso for the launch of a new Africa World Airlines route, His Royal Majesty Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli State and Founder of Africa World Airlines, paid a solemn and historic courtesy call on His Majesty Mogho Naba Baongo II, the Traditional Overlord of Ouagadougou and esteemed King of the Mossi people.
Togbe was accompanied by a distinguished delegation of chiefs, a queen mother, elders from Asogli, Volta Regional Chief Imam, and Sarki Turawa. The visit to the royal palace was filled with warmth, honor, and genuine African brotherhood. His Majesty Mogho Naba Baongo II, surrounded by his ministers and elders of state, graciously welcomed Togbe and his delegation with smiles and ceremonial dignity, symbolizing the strength of tradition and the bond between two great kingdoms.

In his address, Togbe Afede XIV emphasized the importance of unity among African traditional rulers. He introduced the Institute of African Leadership, an initiative he founded to bring together kings and chiefs across the continent to foster peace, cultural preservation, and sustainable development. Togbe presented His Majesty Mogho Naba Baongo II with a copy of a book outlining the vision and goals of the Institute—an inspiring gesture rooted in pan-African solidarity.
Togbe also highlighted the hospitality of the Burkinabé people in welcoming Africa World Airlines and shared exciting news about the airline’s future: an expansion from three flights per week to daily flights, with plans to acquire larger aircraft to meet growing demand. This initiative, he noted, is part of a broader vision to deepen regional connectivity and economic integration in West Africa.

Furthermore, Togbe revealed that documentation and technical processes are 95% complete for the commencement of power supply from Sunon Asogli Power in Ghana to Burkina Faso. In the long term, he expressed the hope of establishing a thermal power generation plant within Burkina Faso to meet the country’s growing energy needs—another significant step toward strengthening Ghana–Burkina relations.
Before departing, Togbe extended a personal invitation to His Majesty Mogho Naba Baongo II to attend this year’s Asogli Te Za (Yam Festival), a celebration of culture, harvest, and unity in the Volta Region of Ghana.

The visit was a memorable one—rich in symbolism, filled with mutual respect, and a reaffirmation of traditional leadership’s critical role in shaping Africa’s future. Asogli stands proud of its King, and the people of Burkina Faso continue to shine as gracious hosts and valuable partners in progress.
Long live the friendship between Asogli and the Mossi Kingdom. Long live African unity.
