JUST IN: Fire Outbreak at Assin Fosu Adiembra Station: 8 Stores and 4 Bedrooms Destroyed
A devastating fire outbreak occurred on July 24th, 2024, at 12:21 pm, at Assin Fosu Adiembra Station in the Central Region, gutting eight stores and four bedrooms.
Eyewitnesses believe the inferno was sparked by a cylinder leakage at Success Pub, a popular entertainment spot in the area, but the exact cause remains unknown and is under investigation.
The fire quickly spread to neighboring stores and residential areas, engulfing everything in its path. Despite efforts by local firefighters and residents, the blaze proved too powerful to contain, resulting in significant property damage.
An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted the terrifying experience: “I was in my store when I heard a loud explosion and saw the pub engulfed in flames. The fire spread so quickly, and we were powerless to stop it.”
The affected stores and bedrooms were reduced to ashes, leaving owners and occupants to pick up the pieces. The estimated cost of the damage is over thousands of Ghana cedis.
Assin Fosu Municipal Fire Officer, DOIII Paul Tawiah, confirmed that his team received a distress call and rushed to the scene to battle the blaze. Officer Tawiah revealed that the affected area was a hub of activity, housing various businesses, including stores, restaurants, and a printing press.
He suspected that an unattended fire might have caused the outbreak, citing the presence of broken cylinders and other hazardous materials at the scene.
The fire officer emphasized the need for public education on fire safety, stressing that lack of awareness contributes to such disasters. He urged the public to take necessary precautions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety and the need for vigilance in preventing such devastating blazes.
