GTA Celebrates Chocolate Day with Children at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital

Cape Coast, Ghana – February 14, 2025 – The Ghana Tourism Authority (Central Region) celebrated Chocolate Day with children at the Padriatric Unit of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

Led by Mr. Charles Kwaku Buabin, Central Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, the team distributed chocolates to the young patients, putting smiles on their faces. The authority also donated two babies cots, courtesy of Ridge Royal Hotel, and engaged with the medical staff at the hospital.

This year’s theme, “Eat chocolate, stay healthy and grow Ghana,” emphasizes the importance of supporting local businesses, promoting domestic tourism, and ensuring fair trade in the cocoa industry.

According to Mr. Buabin, “We’re celebrating Ghana’s rich cocoa heritage because cocoa is a pivotal component of our economy and culture. Let’s use the season to give chocolates to friends, family members, and loved ones. It’s a unique opportunity to show love and promote Ghanaian brands of chocolates.”

Mr. Buabin also emphasized the need for fair trade in the cocoa industry, noting that celebrating Chocolate Day would foster unity, national pride, and promote domestic tourism.

The celebration was well-received by the children, parents, and medical staff at the hospital. The Ghana Tourism Authority plans to continue promoting tourism and supporting local communities through similar initiatives in the future.

Madam Millicent Aba Appiaah, who speaks on behalf of the nurses at the Padriatric Unit, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Ghana Tourism Authority in Cape Coast. “We are truly thankful for the kindness and generosity shown by the Ghana Tourism Authority,” she said. “The chocolates and baby cots donated to our unit will bring joy and comfort to our young patients and their families.
