The Assin South District has witnessed a surge in interest for the District Chief Executive (DCE) position, with ten individuals submitting their nomination forms. The three-day filing exercise, which commenced on January 6, 2025, came to a close at 5:00 pm today.
The aspirants vying for the DCE position are:
- Kingsley Enninful, Manso Assembly Member
- Jonathan Birikorang, Constituency Secretary
- William Appiah, Constituency Organizer
- Kofi Kurankye, Former PC Aspirant
- Adusei Nicholas Sarpong, Treasurer
- Dawood Aboagye Dadze, Former Chairman
- Stephen Kofi Baidoo, Former PC
- Vicent Affram, Communication Officer
- Stephen Yaw Oduro, Vice Chairman
- Akwasi Assuman, Former Council of Elder
Deputy Secretary Kwame Bashiru Amankra sat in to receive all the nomination forms from the aspirants.
The next steps in the selection process are expected to be announced soon. However, this development comes amidst a presidential directive revoking all appointments of old Chief Executives for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), as announced by President John Dramani Mahama today. The directive requires Coordinating Directors of the respective MMDAs to step in as acting chief executives until new appointments are made.
The district’s constituents are eagerly awaiting the outcome, hoping that the new DCE will bring about positive change and development to the area.
The Assin South District has been experiencing rapid growth in recent years, with various development projects underway. The new DCE will play a crucial role in overseeing these projects and ensuring that the district continues to thrive.
