Nana Otsiwa-Kuma Urges Public to Demand Lifetime Benefits from Politicians

Renowned traditional leader, Dr. Engr. Nana Otsiwa-Kuma VI, Odikro of Egyaa No.2 and Annkobeahen of Anomabo Traditional Area, has advised the public to demand substantial, lifelong benefits from politicians, rather than settling for paltry sums. He emphasized that the public should prioritize their long-term well-being and refrain from accepting insignificant amounts, such as ten or twenty thousand Ghana cedis.
Nana Otsiwa-Kuma cautioned the public to be vigilant during the upcoming December general elections, avoiding violence and ensuring that their votes are not swayed by fleeting financial gains. He stressed that the power lies with the people, and their votes should not be traded for meager sums. The traditional leader also highlighted that politicians often have their children abroad, allowing them to escape accountability for any wrongdoing.
He said this during a grand durbar of Otsirman Eguado Festival 2024 in the Mfantseman municipality, focusing on “Raising Generational Leaders for Transformational Development of Otsir”.
At the same event, Dr. Prince Arhin, NDC parliamentary candidate, outlined his vision and mission, stating that he will not buy votes with petty handouts, such as fifty cedis or oil and rice. Instead, he pledged to focus on tackling development and unemployment issues in the municipality.
Meanwhile, Nana Munumkum Gyebir Abban III, Odikro of Otsir, appealed for support to address the dire needs of the Otsir Community, including the lack of essential amenities like schools, roads, and healthcare facilities.
The two-weeks festival brought together esteemed dignitaries, including kings, politicians, natives of Otsir, and sympathizers.
