Baba Gariba Nominated for MCE Position in Assin Fosu

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Baba Gariba Adams, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman for Assin Fosu Municipal, as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE). This nomination comes after the assembly members’ rejection of the previous nominee, Ms. Charlotte Boakye, a few months ago.
The rejection of Ms. Boakye led to significant unrest within the local NDC community. Supporters accused constituency executives, including Chairman Baba Gariba Adams, of influencing the assembly members’ decision against her confirmation. Demonstrations were held, with protestors alleging that some executives offered financial incentives to sway the vote.
In the wake of these events, a faction of NDC supporters formally appealed to President Mahama to consider nominating Baba Gariba Adams for the MCE position, believing his leadership would bring unity and progress to the constituency.
The President’s nomination of Mr. Adams is seen as a move to stabilize the political climate in Assin Central and address the concerns raised by party members. It reflects an effort to reconcile internal divisions and ensure effective governance at the municipal level.
The nomination now awaits confirmation by the assemblymembers. If approved, Baba Gariba Adams will assume the role of MCE, tasked with overseeing development projects and administrative functions within the Assin Central Municipality.
