A team of police officers led by the Assin Breku District Commander, Superintendent Eric Agbodzi, has visited the grieving family of the 9-year-old boy, Nicholas Oduro who was gruesomely murdered in Assin Breku yesterday.
The officers extended their condolences and assured the family of a full-scale investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the horrific act. Superintendent Agbodzi emphasized the police’s commitment to ensuring that justice is served and pledged that every lead will be pursued.
The suspect, identified as Agya Asuo, 31, who was lynched by an angry mob shortly after the incident, is said to have a history of mental illness. Community members and family sources claim he had exhibited abnormal behavior for over 4 years.
Police have also confirmed that Agya Asuo had a disturbing criminal history. In 2021, he was arrested by the Assin North District Police for allegedly exhuming human remains and hanging human skulls in his room, a case that shocked the community at the time.
In a further twist to the tragic event, police discovered that the suspect’s testicles had been cut off before his death at the hands of the mob. Investigations into the full circumstances of both the boy’s murder and the suspect’s lynching are ongoing.
The police have urged the public to remain calm while they continue to maintain order and search for the missing severed hand of the victim
