IGP Hails Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as ‘King Solomon of Our Time’

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has praised the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his leadership. IGP Yohuno described him as a modern-day King Solomon because of his wisdom and dedication to peace.
This praise came during a historic visit from the Asantehene to the Ghana Police Headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. The visit was an important step in strengthening the bond between traditional leadership and state security agencies.
According to the IGP, Otumfuo’s leadership style is marked by calmness, patience, and moral authority. This approach has been key in resolving some of Ghana’s toughest and longest-standing conflicts. The IGP noted that these efforts have not only restored peace in troubled areas but also supported police work and built public trust in security operations.
“Your exceptional mediation skills have restored peace in many conflicts across our nation. I must call you the King Solomon of our time,” stated the IGP.
Mr. Yohuno pointed out the Asantehene’s role in important peace-building efforts, including the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis, tensions in Yendi, and the ongoing conflict in Bawku. He explained that Otumfuo’s actions in these situations brought stability to areas that had seen violence and unrest for years.
The IGP also emphasized that the Asantehene’s ability to unite opposing sides through dialogue has been crucial for national unity, making law enforcement more effective in conflict-affected regions. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s visit to the Police Headquarters showed the vital role traditional leadership plays in fostering peace, unity, and security throughout the country.
