NDC Fires Back at NPP Over Migyima’s Remarks

The Assin Central National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched a scathing response to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) demands for an apology and retraction of statements made by their parliamentary candidate, Nurein Shaibu Migyima.
During a campaign tour at Assin Awusem, Migyima allegedly referred to Assin Central as leading in promiscuity, fraud, and stealing nationwide. The NPP has requested evidence to support these claims, sparking a heated debate.
At a press conference, Assin Central NDC Communication Officer Abdoni Emmanuel accused the NPP of hypocrisy and selective outrage. “Where were they when Kennedy Ohene Agyapong labeled Assin Central residents as lazy? Where were they when EOCO described our constituency as a hub for human trafficking and banking fraud?” Emmanuel questioned.
Emmanuel argued that the NPP’s reaction was misplaced and politically motivated. “Instead of addressing the real issues affecting our constituents, they’re chasing shadows and peddling misinformation.”
The NDC Communication Officer emphasized that Migyima’s remarks were taken out of context and exaggerated. “Our candidate was highlighting the challenges facing our community, not maligning our people.”
Emmanuel urged the NPP to focus on pressing issues like:
- Rising unemployment among youth
- Escalating car theft in Assin Fosu
- Inadequate infrastructure development
“Let’s debate policies and solutions, not manufactured controversies,” Emmanuel concluded.
The NDC has defended Migyima’s remarks, calling out the NPP’s double standards and demanding attention to the real challenges facing Assin Central.
The political landscape in the constituency continues to heat up as the election season intensifies.
