Assin Central, Ghana – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Assin Central Constituency has condemned and demanded an unconditional apology from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Nurein Shaibu Migyima, for his derogatory remarks about the people of Assin Central.
Unfortunate Remarks
During a recent tour with the NDC running mate, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, at Assin Ewusem, Migyima alleged that Assin Central tops the charts in promiscuity, fraud, and stealing in the Central Region and Ghana at large.
“When it comes to promiscuity (Edwaman) in the Central Region and Ghana at large, Assin Central is number one. When it comes to fraud, Assin Central is number one. When it comes to stealing, Assin Central is number one,” Migyima stated.

The NPP has described Migyima’s comments as “unfortunate, unacceptable, and insulting” to the good people of Assin Central.
Addressing a press conference, Alex Ankomah, alias British Lawyer, Assin Central NPP Communications Officer, demanded that Migyima provides data to support his claims.
“We challenge Migyima to provide evidence to back his malicious statements. Failure to do so, he must retract and apologize to the people of Assin Central,” Ankomah emphasized.

NPP sympathizers in the constituency expressed outrage and disappointment, calling Migyima’s remarks “a slap in the face” and “an insult” to the hardworking people of Assin Central.
“How can a politician seeking our votes demean and denigrate us like this?” asked Ama Mensah, a concerned citizen.
Ultimatum
The NPP has given Migyima an ultimatum to retract his statements and apologize within 72 hours or face further action.
“We will not let this slide. Migyima must take back his words and apologize to the people of Assin Central,” Ankomah warned.
Condemnation from Stakeholders
The Assin Central Traditional Council, religious leaders, and civil society organizations have joined the NPP in condemning Migyima’s remarks.
“Migyima’s statements are unacceptable and divisive. We demand an apology,” said Nana Kweku Ennin, Assin Central Traditional Council Chairman.
Impact on Campaign
Political analysts predict that Migyima’s remarks may harm his campaign and relationships with constituents.
“Migyima’s comments may cost him votes and erode trust among the people,” said Dr. Kwame Amoah, political analyst.
