NABCO Trainees Feel Used and Abandoned by Akuffo-Addo’s Government

The Public Relations Officer of the Aggrieved Nation Building Corps (NABCO) personnel, Frimpong Manso, has expressed deep disappointment and frustration with the Akuffo-Addo-Bawumia government. He accuses the government of exploiting the NABCO program for political gain during the 2020 elections and abandoning its participants.
In 2018, the government launched NABCO to provide temporary employment and skills training for unemployed graduates. However, the program’s participants were promised permanent public sector jobs, which has yet to materialize. Frimpong Manso claims that the government’s failure to fulfill this promise has left many personnel in poverty and despair.
“We voted for the NPP in 2020, believing they would fulfill their pledge to transition the program into permanent public sector jobs,” he said. “Instead, we feel used and abandoned. The government owes us over GH₵418 million, and some personnel have lost their lives due to delayed payment and harsh working conditions.”
Frimpong Manso also lamented that despite their efforts to support the government’s re-election campaign, they have been ignored and forgotten. “The vice president has toured almost all regions in Ghana, but not once has he mentioned NABCO as an achievement. It’s as if they want to erase us from history.”
The NABCO trainees are demanding justice and calling on the government to fulfill its promises. They refuse to be silenced and will continue to fight for their rights until they receive the recognition and compensation they deserve.
“This is a wake-up call for all Ghanaian youth,” Frimpong Manso said. “We will no longer be taken for granted. We demand action, not words.”
The situation has sparked outrage among many Ghanaians, who see the government’s treatment of NABCO trainees as a betrayal of trust. “This is a clear example of political exploitation,” said a concerned citizen. “The government used these young people for their own gain and then discarded them. It’s unacceptable.”
As the debate rages on, one thing is clear: the NABCO trainees will not be silenced until their demands are met. They deserve justice, and they deserve it now.
