The police in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa district of the Central Region have arrested a woman, Madam Akoto, and her three male friends in connection with the murder of her husband, Kweku Otsiwa. The 47-year-old businessman was found dead in a farm yard at Kuntanasi last month.
According to sources, Madam Akoto had been having marital issues with her husband, who was a heavy drinker. She had allegedly threatened to leave him for another man if he didn’t stop drinking. The couple also had a history of domestic violence. Neighbors reported hearing the couple arguing on multiple occasions, and the husband had reportedly found another man in their bedroom a few days before his death.
Investigations suggest that Madam Akoto and her friends, Kofi Show, Kofi Seth, and Kwame Essel, may have conspired to kill her husband. The police have found physical evidence that suggests the death was an intentional act. The suspects are currently in police custody, and the police are searching for additional suspects, including the Oman Kyeame of Bremen Kuntanasi, Kyeame Edua.
The family of the deceased is calling for a swift investigation and justice, and the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Akufo Dampare, has been petitioned to intervene in the case. The community is also calling for increased security measures to prevent further incidents of violence.
The Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Charles Ayensu, has condemned the incident and urged the constituents to remain calm and assist the police in their investigations. The body of the deceased is currently at the Our Lady of Grace hospital in Breman Asikuma, pending further investigation.
The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. The suspects are expected to appear in court soon to face charges related to the murder.
