“MTN Ghana Empowers Next Generation with Digital Literacy Skills”

MTN Ghana’s Y’ello Care initiative, an annual employee volunteer program, has been empowering communities and supporting education since 2007. The program aims to bridge the digital divide, promote digital inclusion, and enhance the quality of education in Ghana. Through Y’ello Care, MTN Ghana has made significant contributions to education in Ghana, demonstrating its dedication to empowering the next generation.

In a bid to prepare the next generation for a technologically driven future, MTN Ghana has launched a digital literacy program focused on artificial intelligence tools. Through its Y’ello Care initiative, the company is equipping senior high school students with the skills to navigate the digital landscape effectively. At Academy of Christ the King Senior High School in Cape Coast, MTN staff and partners from Duapa Werkspace in Takoradi engaged students in an interactive session on AI, highlighting its benefits and potential risks.

“In today’s digital age, it’s essential that our young people have the skills to keep pace with technological advancements,” said Regina Arkaifie, Human Resource Manager at MTN Ghana. “Through our Y’ello Care initiative, we’re equipping senior high school students with digital literacy skills that will empower them to succeed in an increasingly digital world.”

The program also tackled mobile money fraud, emphasizing the importance of digital awareness in preventing scams. “As technology advances, so do the tactics of fraudsters,” said Erasmus Mensah Ackon from Duapa Werkspace. “By educating our young people on digital literacy, we’re empowering them to stay ahead of the game and protect themselves from fraud.”

By investing in digital education, MTN Ghana is not only bridging the digital divide but also empowering young minds to embrace technology and shape the future. “We’re committed to supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4, which focuses on quality education,” said Arkaifie. “By investing in digital education, we’re contributing to the achievement of this critical goal.”

Furthermore, the program reinforces MTN Ghana’s dedication to fostering digital inclusion and bridging the gap between technology and education. “We believe that everyone deserves access to the benefits of technology, regardless of their background or location,” said Arkaifie. “By empowering young people with digital literacy skills, we’re unlocking their potential and opening doors to new opportunities.”

With this initiative, MTN Ghana is playing a vital role in preparing the next generation for a future driven by technology. By providing digital literacy skills, the company is empowering students to succeed in an increasingly digital world. As technology continues to advance, it is essential that young people have the skills to keep pace. MTN Ghana’s digital literacy program is a step in the right direction, ensuring that the next generation is equipped to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

In conclusion, MTN Ghana’s digital literacy program is a testament to the company’s commitment to shaping the future of Ghana and empowering its citizens to succeed in a rapidly changing world. “We’re proud to be playing a role in preparing the next generation for a future driven by technology,” said Arkaifie. “We’re committed to continuing this initiative and empowering more young people with digital literacy skills.”
